SWAN at 60: MAPOLY Radio Pioneer GM Kunle Oluwusi Selected for Veteran Sports Journalists Award

As part of activities marking its commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), the General Manager of Mapoly Radio 99.7 FM Ojere, Deacon Kunle Oluwusi has been nominated for the veteran sports journalists award by the professional body.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the nomination of the pioneer General Manager of the campus Radio station was made known in a letter from the national Secretariat of the association and signed by the Secretary-General, Ikenna Okonkwo.
According to the Letter of Recognition, which was sighted by OTN News, the body, which is a member of the Association Internationale De La Presse Sportive (AIPS), African Sports Journalists Union (ASJU), has thought it prudent to recognize the invaluable contributions of deserving professionals to Sports journalism development in Nigeria within the last 60 years of its establishment in Nigeria.
The national body, routing the nomination and recognition letter through the Ogun state chapter of SWAN, addressed the letter to Deacon Kunle Oluwusi, stating, "Dear Sir,

On behalf of the National Executive Committee and members of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), I am pleased to inform you that you have been selected for special recognition as part of activities marking the SWAN Diamond Jubilee Celebration (SWAN @60) scheduled to hold from October 29 to 31, 2025, in Abuja.
The letter further states that, "This honour is in recognition of your outstanding contributions, professionalism, and enduring service to the growth and integrity of sports journalism in Nigeria. Over the years, your commitment, mentorship, and passion for the craft have inspired generations of journalists and enriched the nation's sporting narrative."
It added that, "As a valued pioneer and pillar of our profession, this recognition is a token of appreciation for your sacrifices and legacy in promoting excellence, fairness, and credibility in sports reporting.
We look forward to celebrating you at the SWAN @60 Award and Appeal Fund Ceremony on October 31, 2025, at the VIP Lounge, Package A, Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. Please accept our warm congratulations and best wishes," letter of recognition concludes.
