OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the outgoing president of the Student Union Government, Comrade Isaac Ogunlana, popularly known as IceconRay, in an exclusive interview with our correspondent, expressed utmost happiness about the development.
In his words,"Honestly, it feels so good to see this level of intervention from His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun. The delivery of two brand new electric transformers to our institution is no small gesture at all, it is a major step that will go a long way in solving the electricity challenges that may have hindered the smooth running of academic and administrative activities on campus."
He affirmed that, "As the outgoing SUG President, I feel deeply honoured that this is happening during my tenure. Since my emergence, we have continued to witness new and positive developments in MAPOLY, and this donation is another proof that the welfare of students is on the mind of the government."
He further stressed that in the current socio-economic realities, "Two transformers are no jokes; they represent stability for our classrooms, offices and general campus life. Beyond that, it is symbolic: it shows that MAPOLY is not forgotten."
He appreciated the Governor for being magnanimous and benevolent to the Polytechnic, adding that, like Oliver Twist, "We are expecting the Governor to keep stretching his good hands towards MAPOLY. We still look forward to more positive interventions in infrastructure, learning facilities, and general student welfare."
Concluding, he reiterated that "On behalf of the students, I say thank you to His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, even as I believe this gesture marks the beginning of greater things to come to the Polytechnic from the coffers of the state government.
In a similar vein, the newly elected SUG President of the Polytechnic, Comrade Temitope Afolabi, also known as Big Afoo, praised the Governor for fulfilling his promise to ensure that Mapoly enjoys upgraded electrification.
His words, "As the SUG President-Elect of MAPOLY, I feel truly delighted and grateful for the delivery of two electric transformers to our institution by His Excellency, the Governor of Ogun State. This is a major step forward in addressing the power challenges that have affected both our academic activities and students’ welfare.
"On behalf of the student body, I sincerely thank the Governor for listening to the yearnings of MAPOLY students and responding with action. This gesture shows that the government values education and is committed to creating a better environment for learning, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
"We, as students, also assure the government and management that we will cooperate to ensure proper utilization of this infrastructure, and we look forward to even more developmental projects that will uplift MAPOLY to greater heights."
"This is indeed a win for every MAPOLY student," the SUG President-Elect stated.
