Access Holdings Chairman, Aig-Imoukhuede, CFR, to Deliver Convocation Lecture as FUNAAB Unveils Events Programme for 33rd Ceremony

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has unveiled the full programme of events for its 33rd Convocation Ceremony, reaffirming its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and national development, as Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, CFR, is billed to deliver the convocation lecture.

OTN News further reports that the programme, which was signed by the Acting Head of the Directorate of Public Relations, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Olasunkanmi Olajide, reaffirmed the University’s readiness to host a memorable convocation that celebrates academic achievement and national progress.

 According to the statement, he Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde, on behalf of the University’s Governing Council, Senate, Management, Staff, and Students, formally invited stakeholders, alumni, parents, guardians, and friends of the institution to participate in the week-long celebration scheduled to hold from Friday, January 23 to Saturday, January 31, 2026.

According to the programme released by the University, activities will commence on Friday, January 23, 2026, with a Jumat Service at the University Mosque by 1:00 p.m.

The convocation events will continue on Sunday, January 25, 2026, with an Interdenominational Service at the Chapel of Grace, FUNAAB, by 10:00 a.m.

A press conference is scheduled for Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Red Chamber, beginning at 10:00 a.m., where the University management is expected to brief the media on the significance of the convocation and recent institutional milestones.

On Friday, January 30, 2026, FUNAAB will commission several completed projects across designated project sites by 10:00 a.m., reflecting the institution’s ongoing drive toward infrastructural development and academic advancement. Later that same day, the Convocation Lecture will take place at the Red Chamber by 3:00 p.m.

The week-long activities will culminate on Saturday, January 31, 2026, with the grand Convocation Ceremony at the Professor Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building by 10:00 a.m. The ceremony will feature the award of First and Higher Degrees, Postgraduate Diplomas, and the presentation of prizes to deserving graduates.

A major highlight of the 33rd Convocation Ceremony is the Convocation Lecture titled “Integrating Agriculture and Youth Development: A New Paradigm for the Nigerian Education System.” 

The lecture will be delivered by Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, CFR, Chairman of Access Holdings Plc, who is widely regarded as a leading figure in banking, investment, and philanthropy.

Mr. Aig-Imoukhuede previously served as Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank Plc from 2002 to 2013, where he led the transformation of the bank into one of Nigeria’s foremost financial services institutions. 

Renowned for his contributions to corporate governance, economic reform, and social impact initiatives, he is expected to offer thought-provoking insights drawn from his extensive experience in both the private and non-profit sectors.

The University, however, noted that the lecture is expected to stimulate robust discussions on agriculture-driven education and youth empowerment as critical tools for sustainable national development, in line with FUNAAB’s mandate to produce globally competitive graduates equipped to drive innovation and socio-economic transformation.
