OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that a clergyman identified as prophet Godwin Ikuru, has issued a stern warning to human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, over his planned march to the presidential villa, to secure the release of the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.
OTN News further reports as gathered that the prophet, gave this warning in a statement from the Jehovah Eye Salvation Ministry, the Prophetic Hall of Fame leader, on Sunday.
According to the prophet, I want to warn Sowore not to dare marching to Aso Rock to destabilize the peace of Nigeria for the sake of Kanu, the president doesn’t have anything against Kanu I strongly believe that as a father that has a good heart and doesn’t want the Igbo speaking people to feel threatened in the Nigerian nation, he would listen, it wasn’t the president that arrested him.
OTN News had earlier reported that Sowore and his supporters are preparing for a massive protest scheduled for October 20, with plans to march to Aso Rock in demand for Kanu’s release.
OTN News observes that Sowore’s movement has stirred nationwide debate, drawing comments from religious and political figures who are calling for restraint and dialogue.
OTN News further observes that Kanu has remained in custody since 2021, following his arrest and return to Nigeria under the administration of the late President Muhammadu Buhari.
Reacting to this moves which is believed by many mighty caused nation wide distraction, prophet Ikuru, quickly issued a stern warning to Sowore over his planned march to the presidential villa.
The clergyman cautioned that such action could disrupt national peace, urging Sowore to adopt a more peaceful and diplomatic approach instead.
The prophet noted that, he had prayed and fasted over the issue, describing himself as a prophet of the nation seeking peace.
He acknowledged that while Kanu’s past actions were controversial, the path forward should be built on forgiveness and reconciliation.
“Despite the fact that Kanu did a lot of grave things while he was free, he kept abusing and insulting everyone without any atom of respect, he actually presented himself as a threat to the unity of Nigeria, but we have to forgive because as a clergyman, the bible preaches forgiveness,” he noted.
Prophet Ikuru, further advised Sowore to focus on constructive dialogue rather than confrontation, insisting that peaceful discussion with government officials would yield better results for Kanu’s case.
He emphasized that President Tinubu is committed to national unity and is focused on advancing Nigeria’s development.
“Sowore is supposed to bring people forward for dialogue for Kanu’s release, not mobilizing for protest to disrupt the peace of Mr. President who is busy thinking and strategizing on how to advance the nation, I want to state it emphatically, don’t dare March to Aso Rock,” he warned.
