Maverick media entrepreneur and Chief Executive Officer, OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News, Olufemi Orunsola, has launched a new Lagos-centric Television show tagged "My Lagos Story", promising Lagosians a fabulous yuletide with cash prizes to be won by loyal viewers of the new show.
Orunsola, while briefing reporters about the new street-based, environmental surveillance show, revealed that "My Lagos Story is an initiative, targeted at the reorientation of Nigerians, especially Lagosians to appreciate, develop and celebrate the socio-cultural uniqueness of Lagos, Nigeria's major economic hub dubbed "Centre of Excellence", despite the current harsh socio-economic realities confronting the country."
He further revealed that, "For too long, the narratives of Africa, Nigeria and Lagos in particular, have been inappropriately told by both foreign forces and the elitist media, failing to capture the core essence of the stories, but now, I'm on a mission to empower people living in Lagos to tell their own stories and experiences to the whole world in their own way", noting further that the new TV Show bears shocking revelations, didactic lessons, entertaining moments, inspirations, and possible solutions from the common man on streets to collective problems".
Revealing that Lagosians stand a chance of winning cash prizes as well as other fantastic gifts by engaging with the Lagos Quiz segment of the new TV Show, the broadcast media trainer with close to two decades of experience as a broadcast content provider, also hinted that the new TV Show has come to take the Nigerian media content landscape by the storms, as it explores new frontiers of democratisation of broadcasting beyond the known conventional modes of studio-based contents.
"My Lagos Story" debuts on YouTube and the online TV space of OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News on Monday, December 2, 2024 featuring the conversation between a random young Lagosian, who recounts his experiences, as an Igbo boy, born and bred in Lagos, his worst night mares in Lagos as well as his most memorable experience in the aquatic state.
OTN News reports that, the TV Host, Femi Orunsola strikes a definitive chord of identification with and projection of core socio-cultural essence of Lagos with his choice of the exact spot where the "Welcome to Lagos" Statue, is currently located as the major backdrop of the Lagos Quiz segment of the new TV show.
Garnishing public information and education with a stride of entertainment and humour, Femi throws out the weird Lagos Quiz, requesting viewers of the show to mention the name of the creator of the "Welcome to Lagos" Statue, also known as the "Aro Meta" of Lagos, the year it was created and the actual names of the three wise men portrayed as White Caps Wearing Chiefs, in the sculptural work of art that has become symbolic of unity, power, and the essence of Lagos as a cultural and economic hub.
