A fleet of political bigwigs in Nigeria have praised Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his infrastructural exploits and legacies in the gateway state.
Speaking in turns at the 38th Akesan Day Celebration held in Iperu, Ikenne Local Government Area, Ogun State, the prominent Nigerian leaders unanimously commended the Governor for his consistent delivery of dividends of democracy to the good people of Ogun State.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA OTN News reports that the event, laced with grand display of culture, unity, and political significance attracted the attendance of over 50 senators and prominent political figures, highlighted Governor Dapo Abiodun’s transformative leadership and his remarkable contributions to the state’s development.
Senate Leader Opeyemi Bamidele, who led the delegation on behalf of Senate President Godswill Akpabio, expressed his admiration for Governor Abiodun’s unwavering support for the National Assembly. Bamidele described him as a “legislature-friendly governor” who had always been there for the National Assembly, especially during pivotal moments in the election of legislative leaders.
“Governor Abiodun was one of the first to identify with us during the elections that brought Senator Akpabio as Senate President and Rt. Hon. Tajudeen Abbass as Speaker of the House of Representatives,” Bamidele remarked.
He emphasized that Abiodun’s early support during the election campaigns solidified his reputation as a loyal and dependable leader.
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdullahi Umaru Ganduje, also took the stage to commend Governor Abiodun for his impressive infrastructural developments across Ogun State. Ganduje praised the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport as a symbol of Abiodun’s commitment to fostering economic growth.
“When we landed at Ogun’s international airport, I was amazed by the state-of-the-art facilities. This governor is leaving behind not just infrastructure, but a legacy that will last for generations,” Ganduje said, highlighting how the airport would serve as a key driver for economic growth and investments in Ogun State.
Abiodun’s infrastructural efforts were also a major focus of discussions during the event. The governor’s work on road networks, concrete drainage systems, and the ongoing development of modern transportation hubs were recognized as monumental contributions to the state’s development.
Senator Bamidele emphasized that the international airport and other key projects demonstrated Abiodun’s vision for Ogun State. “Flying into the airport today confirmed the seriousness Governor Abiodun attaches tool legacy projects. This is not just about the present; it’s about the future of Ogun State,” Bamidele added.
Governor Abiodun’s investment in modern infrastructure was described as essential for turning Ogun State into a major commercial hub in Nigeria. Speakers at the event noted that the airport’s completion had attracted attention from both federal agencies like the Nigeria Customs Service and private sector investors, creating new opportunities for economic growth.
The Nigeria Customs Service is planning to establish a Customs City in Ogun State, further solidifying the state’s position as a vital player in the country’s economy. This new development is expected to boost the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) and attract more businesses, creating jobs and opportunities for residents.
Dr. Ganduje expressed his belief that the Gateway International Agro-Cargo Airport, along with other projects initiated by Abiodun’s administration, would open up Ogun State to more investments and create a thriving business environment. “The airport alone will change the economic landscape of Ogun State,” Ganduje stated.
Cultural performances during the Akesan Day celebration provided a vibrant backdrop to the political discussions, emphasizing the deep-rooted traditions of Iperu and Ogun State. Traditional dances and music added to the festive atmosphere, reminding attendees of the cultural richness of the region.
In his remarks, Governor Abiodun thanked the attendees and reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring Ogun State remains a hub for investments, infrastructure, and cultural preservation. He reiterated that his administration’s focus was to leave a lasting legacy that would benefit future generations.
The support from political heavyweights and the presence of so many senators underscored the broad recognition of Abiodun’s efforts to transform Ogun State.
