Nigerian Street singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable,has advised his fans and Nigerian youths in general to focus more on their personal career success instead of participating in the upcoming protests against economic hardship in Nigeria.
OPEN TELEVISION Naija reports that the controversial street singer made it known that he has no business joining the planned hunger protests being organized by various groups because he is no longer an hungry man.
Known for his vocal expressions on issues that concern him and his musical career on social media, Portable made his stand on the hunger protests known in a a viral video posted on his social media handles.
The street singer emphasized that he will not perform at any hunger protests or demonstrations because it is a dangerous adventure that may not end well, hence, he would rather focus on building on the level of success he has already attained.
The street singer further urged his fans to focus on their personal growth and success rather than engaging in public demonstrations.
In his words; “It will not end well for anyone who suggests that I should go and sing in a protest. Why don’t you take the microphone and sing at the protest yourself?”
“Fight for yourself, and not for Nigeria. Nigeria is okay. It is you that is not yet okay,” Portable stated.
He also submitted that the key to success in life lies in personal effort and loyalty to those who can offer help.
“The money is where it is; you are the one who is not working, and you don’t stay loyal to your helper. People that will help you are also available; you are the one who is not networking. Fight for yourself, so that your career will not turn to a barrier,” he stated.
Portable's submission feeds into a current waves of #endbadgovernance trends in the so ual media landscape of Nigeria ahead of the August 1 date scheduled for the commencement of the nation-wide hunger protests and demonstrations across the country in reaction to socio-economic hardships and widespread hunger in the land.
