The Rector, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, has charged the staff of the Polytechnic to use their privileged positions in society to bring developmental projects to the Polytechnic.

The Rector said this at the commissioning of a water project donated to the Hospitality Department by the Abeokuta Royal Lions Club, on Friday 28th June 2024.

Open Television Naija reports that the commissioned bore hole water project was donated to the Department by the Abeokuta Royal Lions Club, under the leadership of Lion Mrs. Olamiji Adedeji (a staff of the Hospitality Department).

During the project commissioning, the Rector, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta thanked Mrs. Adedeji for using her position in the Lion Club family to facilitate the project for the Department/Polytechnic; thereby solving the water challenges at the Department. He recalled a similar water project donated to the Polytechnic by the Rotary Club (sited in the Market area), which was facilitated by Dr. Samson Agbato, the immediate Past Director, of School of Environmental Studies.

The Rector also took advantage of the occasion to inspect the Marketing Building being constructed by the 1994 Alumni of the Department of Marketing; a project facilitated/being championed by some staff members in the Department, notably Drs. Aliu Odunmbaku, Abiodun Alao, Olawale Adetunji, and Mr. George Diyaolu.

Dr. Odedeji appreciated the efforts of all staff who have, in one way or the other, facilitated veritable projects for the Polytechnic to meet vital needs of the campus community, he also encouraged others to do likewise.

Guests present at the water project commissioning included: the Director, School of Science Technology, Dr Mrs Taiwo; SIWES Director, Dr. Sojobi; the HoD, Food Technology, Dr Odunmbaku; the HoD, Science Laboratory Technology, Dr. Adebambo Adewale (ably represented by Dr Mobolaji Sodunke), staff of the Hospitality Department, and some other members of staff of the Polytechnic who are also members of the Lions Club among whom was Dr.Wasiu Tejuoso.
