Thursday Flood Causes Traffic Gridlock, Commuters Frustrated As Vehicles Swim Through Lagos-Ibadan Long Bridge

The Warewa axis of the long bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway on Thursday, looked like a swimming pool following a heavy downpour that lasted for several hours, flooding the road and spilling over the concrete culverts on the roadside, resulting in a heavy traffic gridlock.

Open Television Naija gathered that the flood was caused by the heavy downpour on Thursday which flooded the entire surface of the express road.

Although vehicles still managed to "swim through the flooded road", some vehicles ended up breaking down while commuters trapped in the gridlock couldn't but express their frustrations.

Eye witnesses told Open Television Naija that the rain started around 2 p.m on Thursday and it did not stop until very late in the night around.

Meanwhile, many houses within the area were equally flooded and submerged.
