Senate Sacks CCT Chairman, Umar Danladi Over Corruption Allegations

The Senate has dismissed the Chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT), Umar Danladi, citing Section 157(1) of the Nigerian Constitution.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News gathered that the decision was backed by a two-thirds majority vote of the lawmakers.
Danladi’s removal followed numerous petitions and allegations of corruption and misconduct submitted to the Senate.
These allegations prompted the Senate Committee on Ethics, Code of Conduct, and Public Petitions to summon him for multiple investigative hearings.
The lawmakers stated that the decision was inevitable given the weight of accusations against him, including corruption, misappropriation of funds, and an alleged physical altercation with a security officer in Abuja.
Danladi is also reportedly under investigation by key anti-corruption agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), and the Department of State Services (DSS).
However, the Senate emphasized that its action reflects its commitment to upholding accountability and ethical conduct in public office.
