Omah Lay Accuses Rema of Stealing Album Concept as Alleged Chat Screenshots Leak

By: Israel Adeleke

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that Afrobeats sensation, Omah Stanley Didia, popularly known as Omah Lay, has allegedly accused fellow music star, Divine Ikubor, widely known as Rema, of stealing his album concept, sparking heated debate across social media after screenshots of their purported private chats surfaced online.

OTN News further reports that the controversy reignited following the circulation of a resurfaced interview in which Omah Lay claimed that a colleague had taken ideas he shared in confidence and used them to release an album with strikingly similar themes.

According to him, the incident forced him to scrap his original project and rebuild it from scratch.

OTN News observes that fresh drama emerged after multiple entertainment blogs published screenshots allegedly taken from Omah Lay’s burner account, showing what appears to be a 2023 chat exchange between the two artists.

In the leaked conversation, they reportedly discussed experimenting with a new sound, exchanging creative concepts, and pledging to collaborate.

While the leaked messages have fueled speculation, neither Omah Lay nor Rema has issued an official public statement addressing the alleged chats.

OTN News further observes that the online fallout has sharply divided fans, with supporters of both singers taking to X and Instagram to argue over the credibility of the screenshots.

Some have defended Rema, dismissing the leak as fabricated, while others have urged him to respond to the allegations directly.

The incident has also reignited broader discussions about originality, creative ownership, and intellectual property rights within the Nigerian music industry.
