'You Don’t Deserve To Hold Public Office’ – Mr Macaroni Slams Abike Dabiri Over KWAM 1 Apology Tweet

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that Nigerian skitmaker and activist, Debo Adedayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has publicly criticized the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, over her response to Fuji legend KWAM 1’s apology following an airport disruption incident.
OTN News further reports that Dabiri-Erewa had acknowledged the musician’s apology after he was involved in a confrontation at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, a reaction Mr Macaroni described as “highly reprehensible” and a “dangerous precedent.”
In a statement posted on social media, Macaroni accused the NiDCOM boss of promoting the idea that crimes could be excused with a mere apology, without any form of accountability. He argued that her stance undermined the rule of law and encouraged impunity.
The comedian compared the incident to a recent case involving a woman who was swiftly imprisoned following a disturbance on an Ibom Air flight.
He insisted that those who humiliated her and exposed her nude images online should also be prosecuted, stressing that the handling of KWAM 1’s case highlighted a double standard in Nigeria’s justice system.
Macaroni further called on the Minister of State for Labour, Festus Keyamo, to go beyond making social media statements and take concrete legal steps against those who obstructed the aircraft during the Abuja incident.
Questioning the absence of punitive measures for the Fuji star’s conduct, Macaroni said it was troubling that others had faced immediate imprisonment for lesser offences. He concluded by accusing the authorities of selectively applying the law based on the individuals involved.
“Ma, I just want to say that this is highly reprehensible. You don’t deserve to hold a public office. You have set a very dangerous precedent with this tweet. You have told Nigerians it is okay to commit a crime and can issue an apology to absolve yourself without consequences,” he wrote.
