Oladipupo Foundation Marks 15 Years of Compassion, Action And Hope for Sickle Cell Warriors

The Oladipupo Foundation for Sickle Cell, a non-profit and non-governmental organization dedicated to supporting individuals living with Sickle Cell disorder, on Thursday had celebrated its 15th anniversary, highlighting a decade and half of compassionate awareness, advocacy and support for sickle cell patient.
The Thanksgiving and anniversary event held under the theme"Raising and Sharing Hope", brought together government officials, Patients and Supporters to celebrate and reflect on the foundation's journey in Abeokuta.
The Guest speaker, Semiu Bello applauded the organization for sustaining its commitment to improving the well-being of Sickle Cell Warriors through resilience and empathy.
Speaking at the event, the Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, emphasized the urgent need to improve pain management as it had become one of the biggest challenges for warriors,noting that too many still endure severe crises without adequate medical support.
In her words" Pain management remains one of the biggest challenges for our warrior, too many still endure to nurse pain without receiving adequate medical support and the emotional toll of sickle cell disorder on families".
Salako-Oyedele highlighted that there is persistent bullying, Stereotyping and stigma experienced by warriors in schools and communities, urging society to disagree with any form of discriminatory attitude while noting that every individual has the responsibility to change the narrative by protecting vulnerable patients.
She outlined a major policy recommendation which includes improving access to essential medicines and strengthening structured medical and psychosocial care. She assured the gathering that all concerns raised would be communicated to Governor Dapo Abiodun to boost support through, policing, partnership and targeted programmes.
A highlight of the ceremony was the recognition and presentation of award to Prince Gboyega Nasiru Isiaka, presented on his behalf by Engr. Bambo, among others for their continuos contribution to the foundation's humanitarian programmes.
As the Oladipupo Foundation steps into a new phase, the Non-governmental organization is poised to always give support and always add value to every sickle cell warriors.
