OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that fans and followers of media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), have bombard the internet shortly after VDM's brother, Mark Vincent Otse, took to social media and made a heartfelt appeal for prayers for his brother, VDM, on Sunday morning.
OTN News further reports that VDM's brother urged Nigerians, particularly those attending churches to remember VDM in their prayers, hinting at a troubling situation but stopping short of revealing specific details.
OTN News observes that in a short video clip he posted online, he said, “Good morning, everyone. I’m not here to say much, but I want you all to pray for Verydarkman. It’s not easy. He hasn’t posted for two days now. I know many of you are asking, ‘Where is VDM?’ The truth is… today is Sunday. As you go to church, please remember to put him in your prayers for good.”
OTN News, however, observes that, the post quickly went viral, with thousands of fans and social media users reacting to the news.
While some expressed concern and offered prayers, others were skeptical and questioned the lack of transparency in the message.
A user with the handle name, @_SammyNas wrote, “The truth is what? Ehhh God abeg oh, make nothing happen to him.”
Also, @akinwale_cfi shared his take, saying, “I was refreshing his page last night before going to bed and didn’t see a new post. May God keep him.”
@lordofdx appeared frustrated by the ambiguity, he wrote, “He made it look like he wanted to explain his whereabouts but ended up saying nothing.”
@storji offered a cautionary take, “If he is not telling us where he is or what happened, then there’s no need for any vague prayers. The mistake is to trust VDM blindly. He’s a good person, yes, but we must use our heads. I won’t say more.”
VDM is known for his outspoken and often controversial takes on trending issues, corruption, and celebrity culture frequently putting him at odds with powerful interests.
His two-day absence from social media, where he is usually very active, has only fueled speculation about his safety or possible legal trouble.
Although it remains unclear whether his current silence is connected to any such incident, the vague plea from his brother has left supporters in suspense.
For now, all eyes remain on VDM’s page as fans wait anxiously for updates or confirmation of his wellbeing.
However, in a development later on Sunday, the popular social media activist has broken his silence.
OTN News gathered that VeryDarkMan, reacting to his 48-hour plus absence from social media postings said, “I really wish everyone can understand. I haven’t been able to post in the last few hours because my mind is still fkd, the killings involving the herdsmen and farmers is too much and believe me for the past 5days, I haven’t been able to sleep, I’ve been asking questions and doing research to know what the problem really is and trust me it’s been stressing me out.
He further explained the rationale behind his absence and inactivity saying, "Benue killngs didn’t start today, Jos Plateau killings didn’t start today it goes back to 10/15 years, same style same format and same reaction (protest, security chiefs visiting victims and affected areas) everything is the same. The question is not when does it stop, the question is how does it stop?what has the government been getting wrong, a lot of gains and a lot of losses. My mind is messed up in thoughts that I can’t explain."
He concluded his post by reassuring his teeming fan base that he was personally traumatised by the wantom waste of precious human lives during the Benue massacre but expressed the opinion that his own mood should not be the reason to affect his fans.
"Anyways let me not ruin your Sunday with my worries, happy Sunday my people”, he concluded.
