OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has welcomed a new baby while still in detention, following his recent remand in prison over multiple criminal charges.
OTN News further reports as gathered that the development came barely five days after the Zazoo Zeh crooner was ordered to be remanded in custody by a Federal High Court sitting in Ogun State.
Reports indicated that Portable’s first wife, Omobewaji, put to bed during the period of his incarceration.
OTN News recalls that Portable was arraigned on Monday, January 12, 2026, before the Federal High Court on a nine-count criminal charge bordering on assault and related offences.
At the hearing, the presiding judge declined to grant him bail, citing the absence of the police officer allegedly assaulted by the musician, whose testimony was considered crucial to the court’s decision.
Following the bail refusal, the court ordered that the singer be remanded in prison custody and subsequently adjourned the matter to January 19, 2026, for the consideration of his bail application.
Meanwhile, sources close to the singer disclosed that news of the birth of his child has been conveyed to him in prison.
According to the sources, Portable received the news with visible excitement and expressed hope of regaining his freedom soon in order to see his newborn baby for the first time.
Portable’s current legal troubles are said to stem from an earlier incident involving one of his wives, Ashabi Simple, during which he allegedly assaulted a police officer, an incident that ultimately led to his arrest and prosecution.
The case has, however, continued to generate widespread public interest, as fans and observers await the court’s decision on his bail application amid the personal milestone of welcoming a new child.
