Fuel Scarcity Crises:One Shot Dead, Vehicles Burnt At Lagos Filling Station

A young man identified as Toheeb Eniafe, has been shot dead at a petrol station belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited at Obalende in Ikoyi area of Lagos State following arguments over attempt by some persons to disrupt the queue to buy fuel.

Open Television gathered that the sad incident happened around 9.30pm on Wednesday and left some residents in the area in fear.

According to sources, personnel believed to be security agents carried out the shooting when people tried to prevent them from driving into the station to buy petrol instead of joining the queue already established before their arrival at the filling station.

Open Television learnt that Eniafe was active among the people who kicked against anybody trying to break the queue, hence be became a target of the attack due to his insistence as one of the men shot him and fled the scene immediately he fell to the ground.

Subsequently, some area boys, according to witnesses, set a bus on fire when they discovered that one of the assailants hid under it but the particular assailant managed to the escape.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, has confirmed the incident to the press, affirming that a young man identified as Toheeb Eniafe, was shot dead and two vehicles were burnt at the scene of the unfortunate incident.

Hundeyin said the identity of the shooters was not yet known as investigations were ongoing while the remains of Eniafe have been deposited in a morgue.
