In a recent development, the renowned activist and entertainer, Charles Oputa popularly known as Charly Boy, has sounded an alarm over what he describes as a covert operation by the administration of President Bola Tinubu to unlawfully detain and prosecute Peter Obi, the Labour Party's candidate in the 2023 presidential election.
According to reports, Charly Boy, a staunch advocate for Obi, has indicated that the Obidients —a term coined for Obi's fervent supporters—are poised to counteract should these allegations materialize.
The activist has been vocal in his criticism of the government's policies, which he believes has put him in the crosshairs of the current administration.
In a statement sighted by OPEN TELEVISION Naija, Charly Boy cautioned President Tinubu against executing such rumored actions, suggesting that it could ignite unrest and potentially "set the nation on fire."
He emphasized the importance of good governance and accountability, calling on the government to abandon any nefarious plans against Peter Obi.
He wrote: "There’s a report of an attempt of arrest on Peter Obi, by Tinubu’s Government over Peter Obi’s consistent refusal to back down on calling Tinubu out towards good governance and accountability."
"Any arrest or charges against Obi must be met with resistance as never seen in the history of Nigeria before, and the Obidients are ready for it.
"Tinubu’s government must tread with caution not to set this nation on fire with an illegal arrest of HE Peter Obi."
He however urged Tinubu’s government to desist from her evil plans against Peter Obi emphasizing that Nigeria will not remain the same if they persist.
