Football Unites Nigeria As Tinubu, Obi, Kwankwaso, Nigerians Hail Super Eagles 2: 0 Victory Over Algeria

True to the unifying nature of football, the stellar performance of the Super Eagles at the on-going AFCON 2025, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has led other Nigerians to openly commend Nigeria’s 2–0 victory over Algeria at the AFCON 2025, describing their performance as “a testament to the talent, discipline, and determination of our Super Eagles.”

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the Nigerian President made the open commendation in a statement released shortly after the match.

The President’s commendation came following Super Eagles 2–0 win in the quarterfinal to qualify for the semifinals of the 35th edition of the continental tournament at the Grand Stade de Marrakech on Saturday.

Tinubu, who congratulated the players, coaching staff, and Nigerians at home and abroad who cheered them to victory in what he described as "A Brilliant Performance"

He further inspired the Suoer Eagles to strive towards victory in the tournament, saying, "Go, Super Eagles! You have the support of all Nigerians.,” 

In a similar vein, putting partisan Politics aside, former presidential candidate of the Labour party, Peter Obi, has also congratulated the Nigerian team on social media via his X (formerly Twitter) handle.

Obi, who expressed his excitement over the Super Eagles' victory, wrote, “Huge congratulations to our dear Super Eagles for flying high over the Desert Warriors! A 2–0 victory that sends a clear message to the rest of the continent. Clinical finishing, a rock-solid defence, and a rewarding gift to over 200 million people cheering you on. The AFCON trophy is within reach! Keep the fire burning. Let's take this momentum straight into the semi-finals! Up Nigeria! – PO” 

Obi’s post quickly went viral, with thousands of fans echoing his enthusiasm and support for the team.

Also, former governor and politician Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso also took to social media to commend the Super Eagles. “Very good and well deserved win tonight, Super Eagles. Up Nigeria! – RMK”.

Kwankwaso's message reechoes national pride and the collective excitement of Nigerians as the team advances in the tournament. 

OTN News furtuer reports that a general spree of national celebrations have swept through the length and breadth of the country, spreading a push to ultimate victory in the tournanent.

Meanwhile, OTN News reports that although there were fears about the teams chances of winning the match against Algeria following the open altercation between Victor Osimhen and 

in their previous match, football fans and political leaders alike have shown renewed hope and confidence in the capacity of the team to win the trophy, hence, urging them to maintain focus and carry the momentum into the semi-finals.
