OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the Zone 16 Police Command in Bayelsa State has arrested three suspected individuals, identified as Billion Ndubuisi, Charles Amachree, and Martins Chinemike over alleged internet fraud and possession of illicit drugs in Rivers State.

OTN News further reports according to a statement issued on Saturday by the spokesperson for Zone 16, Gunn Emonena, that the three suspected fraudsters were apprehended at Rumukparali community in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area following actionable intelligence.

Furthermore, the statement explained that during the operation, police operatives recovered wraps of hard drugs suspected to be Indian hemp, two vehicles, two laptops, and ten mobile phones from the suspects’ premises.

Subsequently, the arrest gained further attention when the suspects allegedly attempted to bribe the officers with $17,000 in a bid to suppress the case.

However, the officers rejected the offer, a move commended by the police spokesperson.

Emonena said “The suspects, through their agent, offered the sum of $17,000 as a bribe, which was rejected by our well-trained, reformed officers.

“The money is registered and will be tendered as exhibits in court.”

Further investigation revealed that the suspects confessed to impersonating a U.S. citizen named Ryan Bill to defraud foreigners of $71,500.

The police spokesperson assured the public of the command’s commitment to tackling criminal activities and urged residents to report suspicious activities promptly.

The suspects are however expected to be charged in court after the conclusion of investigations.
