Domestic Violence Fatality:Woman Dies After Fight with Ex-Husband in Ogun

A 37-year-old man, Muftau Adefalu, has been arrested and detained by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing his ex-wife, Yetunde Olayiwole, in Sango-Ota, Ogun State.
The incident occurred over the weekend following a misunderstanding between the suspect and his ex-wife, which resulted in a fight.
Olayiwole slumped during the scuffle and was taken to a hospital, where she was confirmed dead by a doctor on duty.
The corpse has been deposited at the Ifo General Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Ogun Police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola who confirmed the incident, stated that the suspect has been arrested and detained.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that this incident is coming at a time when a similar case of fatal domestic violence occurred in Ibadan, Oyo State, where a 39-year-old man, Olusegun Tinubu, was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife, Comfort Tinubu, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Meanwhile, the Police Public Relations Officer has revealed that the suspect has been detained, and the state police command has launched an investigation into the incident.
The foregoing calls public attention to the growing spate of domestic violence among married couples in Nigeria in recent times.
