The hunger protest has commenced in Abuja, with demonstrators converging on the Moshood Abiola National Stadium to demand action against hunger in the Federal Capital Territory.

Following the court order, it has limited the protest to the facility, and it remains uncertain whether the protesters will adhere to the order.  OPEN TELEVISION Naija gathered that the protesters in Abuja began gathering as early as 6am, singing solidarity songs amidst a heavy security presence.

It would be recalled that some activists and groups had notified government of the plan to organize the 10-day protest in response to economic hardship.

Meanwhile, Ogun State has been reported calm and peaceful by the Ogun State Corps Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), CC. Idowu Ojelabi who granted an interview by Open Television Naija during his monitoring rounds at Panseke Abeokuta, Ogun state.

According to the Corps Commandant, Ogun State has remained calm and peaceful with no incidence of security breach or violence.

CC Ojelabi made it known to Open Television Naija that "Even in the Ijebu Ode axis of the state where there are protesters in action, a joint operation of the security forces consisting the Nigeria Police, NSCDC, Amotekun and other agencies are providing adequate security to the protesters."

"So far, so good, Ogun State is calm and peaceful and by the special grace of God, we hope to sustain this positive situation reports via the collaborative efforts of the security forces in Ogun state".

Earlier today, almost all major streets and roads in the Ogun State capital, Abeokuta, were deserted but our correspondents on special monitoring duty report that from around 10 am, normal routine movement of human and vehicular traffic has resumed in the state.
