As Nigeria, Africa's most populous country marked her 64th Independent anniversary on October 1st on a low key amid harsh socio-economic realities, the fearlessinoctober protests held in the country have been marred by a low turn out of protesters at the Federal Capital Territory territory, Abuja, Lagos and other states across the country.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that, the Presidency announced a low key celebration of the 64th independence anniversary while President Tinubu made a national broadcast on Tuesday morning but the protesters still went ahead to observe the demonstrations at an equally low key level.

OTN News further reports that the organizers of the #fearlessinoctober protests who had threatened to hold the protests but were restricted by separate court orders, to only hold the protests in designated points across the country, made good their threats by holding the protests amid heavy security presence in strategic locations across the country.

One of the protest organizers, Omoyele Sowore while speaking at the protest in Lagos said that Nigeria was been ruled by a crop of people our parents warned us while growing up,not to be like namely "drug dealers, 419ers, and deceivers."

He asseryed that Nigerians, by the mere fact some people could still come out to exercise their legitimate rights to protest despite the arsenal of State Security apparatus deployed to coerce people, have demonstrated their willingness to gain independence from bad political leadership.

OTN News correspondents in Abuja, Lagos and Abeokuta reported that although the #fearlessinoctober protests was greeted with a very low turn out of protesters, the protesters staged the protests mainly in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory and Lagos, it had next to no place in other parts of the country.

OTN News also reports that President Tinubu in his independence day national broadcast had pledged that his administration is committed to holding a national youth confab where Nigerians especially the youths who, according to the President, constitutes about 60% of the country's population to discuss and the myriads of challenges facing them and dialogue with government on the possible solutions.

While failure of the Federal Government to dialogue with organizers of the protests has been a major reason put up by them for the insistence on staging follow up protests to drive home their demands
