UEFA Mourns As Newly Wedded Diogo Jota, André Silva Passed Away
Barely a month after getting married to his long time girlfriend, Rute Cardoso, in Porto, UEFA got thrown into a state of mourning as the new of the death of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva broke on Thursday.

Barely a month after he got married to his long time girlfriend, Rute Cardoso, in Porto, the Union of European Football Associations, (UEFA) has announced a moment of silence in memory of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva, who both died in a road crash on Thursday.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that in a post on its official website, UEFA disclosed that a moment of silence will be observed at all UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 games taking currently taking place in memory of the late players.
Reacting to the tragic incident, President of UEFA Aleksander Čeferin recalled that he had the honour of presenting Diogo Jota with a medal just three weeks ago, after the UEFA Nations League final.
He prayed Diego would rest in peace, stating that he’ll not be foforgotten.
It would be recalled that just last month, Jota got married to his long-time girlfriend, Rute Cardoso, in Porto.
In the early hours of Thursday, Diogo Jota and his bother Andre Silva died as a result of a car crash in Zamora, Spain.
