The Republican Presidential Candidate, Donald Trump, took the stage in North Carolina under heightened security, including bulletproof glass shielding him from potential threats.

The event, held at the North Carolina Aviation Museum & Hall of Fame, marked a significant return to the campaign trail for the 78-year-old former President.

As gathered by OPEN TELEVISION Naija (OTN) News, the security arrangements were extensive. Storage containers were stacked around the perimeter of the rally site to obstruct sight lines, and snipers were strategically positioned on nearby rooftops.

The precautions reflected the seriousness of the threat Trump had faced in July when he was targeted by a gunman.

As the rally's theme centered on national security, Trump used the occasion to criticize the Biden-Harris administration, focusing on their handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal, the conflict in Ukraine, and the escalating tensions in the Middle East.

He also took multiple jabs at the ongoing Democratic National Convention in Chicago, where former President, Barack Obama, and former First Lady, Michelle Obama, delivered speeches denouncing Trump as a danger to the country if re-elected.

OTN News reports that Trump, who has become the official Republican nominee, asked the audience if they had seen the Obamas' speeches, mocking their criticisms of him.

"They were taking shots at your president, they say, 'Sir, stick to policy, don't get personal,' yet they’re the ones getting personal," he said.

In a pointed moment, Trump acknowledged the intense security surrounding him at the rally. He stood behind a podium encased in bulletproof glass, forming a transparent wall across the stage.

The additional security, including the use of storage containers to create barricades and the presence of old aircraft behind him, underscored the increased precautions taken after the Pennsylvania shooting incident.

OTN News revealed that the former President is now facing Vice President, Kamala Harris in the November election, following President Joe Biden's decision to step aside.

This rally was part of Trump's strategy to counter the Democratic National Convention.

His allies have urged him to focus on policy rather than personal attacks, as he navigates the campaign without his original rival, Joe Biden, in the race.

Despite the calls for a more policy-centered apprach, Trump continues to blend his platform with personal critiques of his opponents.
