Nigerian Footballer, Paul Julius Dies In Tragic Car Accident Weeks After Joining Cypriot Club, Football World Mourns

A Nigerian footballer, Paul Julius, has tragically died in a car crash in Cyprus, just weeks after joining Cypriot club Enosis Neon Paralimniou. 

As gathered by OPEN TELEVISION Naija (OTN) News, the young striker was involved in a fatal head-on collision on the Paralimni-Protaras road, cutting short what had promised to be a bright future in football.

Julius had only been with the club for three weeks, having recently transferred from Egyptian side El Gaish. 

Enosis Neon Paralimniou expressed their deep grief over his untimely death, releasing an emotional statement on their website that mourned the loss of such a promising talent.

The club’s statement conveyed their devastation, noting how unfairly Julius’s life had been taken, and extended heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. 

The football world remains in shock, grappling with the sudden loss of a player who had only just begun his journey in Cyprus.

Enosis Neon Paralimniou’s message reads: “With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to our teammate Paul Julius, whose life was tragically cut short yesterday morning in a car accident."

"Paul was a bright, talented young footballer with big dreams and aspirations. He may have been with us for a short time, but he will always be remembered and remain in our hearts."

OTN News recalls that the club also announced that their flag would fly at half-mast for three days in memory of Julius, and the team would wear black armbands during their next match. 

A minute of silence will be observed before kickoff as a tribute to the fallen player. 

The club extended their gratitude for the outpouring of support and sympathy, stating that their focus is now on supporting Julius’s family during this tragic time.
