Trump Announces Ceasefire Between Israel-Iran Amid Unconfirmed Reports from Both Sides

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that in a dramatic turn of events, the United State President, Donald Trump, has announced a “complete and total” ceasefire between Israel and Iran, signaling a potential end to nearly two weeks of intense hostilities that have alarmed the global community and threatened to ignite a wider regional conflict.
OTN News further reports that, Trump, who made the declaration late Monday night via social media, stated that both countries had agreed to halt all military operations, with the ceasefire expected to take effect approximately six hours after current offensive actions are wound down.
“This is a war that could have gone on for years, and destroyed the entire Middle East, but it didn’t, and never will!” Trump wrote, labeling the confrontation the “12 Day War.”
The announcement comes amid a tense and uncertain atmosphere, as neither the Israeli nor Iranian governments have officially confirmed the agreement.
Both sides have remained silent, fueling doubts about the authenticity, enforceability, and scope of the proposed truce.
Adding to the confusion, multiple Iranian cities, including Tehran, Karaj, and Rasht, were reportedly rocked by explosions late Monday, just hours after Trump’s announcement.
Local residents and Iranian media described hearing “loud explosions,” with Tehran’s air defense systems reportedly activated in response.
The source and nature of the blasts remain unclear, and no official statement has been made by Iranian authorities regarding the incidents.
BBC Persian reporter Ghoncheh Habibiazad corroborated the reports, noting that residents across several cities experienced the sound of explosions. Iranian state media later confirmed that air defense units had been mobilized, but did not provide further details.
Meanwhile, regional tensions have also flared elsewhere. Qatar, which hosts the Al Udeid Air Base a major U.S. military facility, voiced sharp criticism after Iran reportedly launched a missile strike on the installation.
