Tragedy Strikes Again as Dangote Truck Runs Into Vehicle, Crushes Entire Family, Others in Enugu

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that barely eight days after a Dangote truck allegedly caused the death of Ruth Otabor, the younger sister of Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, Phyna, after crushing her legs over the weekend, another truck from the company has crushed a family and three other individuals at Four Corner along the Enugu-Port Harcourt Expressway in Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.

OTN News further reports as gathered that Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrific, with a video showing a vehicle completely crushed by the trailer.

According to an individual who claimed to have heard what happened from an eyewitness, “a family were said to have been in the vehicle, with eyewitnesses disclosing that none of them came out alive."

OTN News observes that as at the time of breaking this disturbing news, the Dangote company is yet to released a statement regarded to the horrific situation.

However, OTN News had earlier reported that the Dangote Group has expressed sorrow over the passing of Ruth Otabor, the sister of Josephine Otabor, Big Brother Naija Season 7 winner, popularly known as Phyna, who was critically injured in a road accident involving one of the company’s trucks in Auchi, Edo State.

OTN News further recalls that the company who expressed their sorrow in a statement released on Sunday, August 31, 2025 over Otabor's tragic death, said it had made arrangements to fly Ruth to India for advanced medical treatment, pending clearance from her doctors.

The group said that since the accident, its officials and insurance partners had been providing full medical and financial support to Ruth and assisting her family.

“On behalf of the entire Dangote Group, we extend our heartfelt condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time,” the company’s statement said.

“Since the accident, our officials and insurance partners have been by her side, covering all financial and medical costs and supporting her family.

“Arrangements had been made for her to be flown to India for advanced treatment, pending medical clearance from her doctors. Sadly, despite these efforts and Ruth’s brave fight to live, we lost her today.” the statement is stated as OTN News had earlier reported.

The Dangote Group emphasised that safety, accountability, and compassion remain central to its operations and reiterated its commitment to strengthening safety systems and supporting those affected in times of tragedy.

“May God grant her mercy and eternal rest,” the statement concluded.
