Tinubu Reverses Recent Appointments in NTA, Recalls DG, ED News

Reports reaching the news desk at OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News have it that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reversed the recent appointments made by his government at the country’s television network, directing the recall of Salihu Abdullahi Dembos as the Director-General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Ayo Adewuyi as the Executive Director of News.
It would be recalled that the Nigerian President had on August 20, 2025, announced the appointments of Rotimi Pedro to replace Dembos and Stella Din in Adewuyi’s stead.
However, in a statement on Tuesday by the Special Adviser to the President on information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the recent appointments have been reversed.
Onanuga explained that Dembos was recalled after he “briefly vacated the post following some management changes in the agency”.
OTN News further recalls that Dembos was appointed DG of the TV network by President Tinubu in October 2023.
The latest development implies that he will now return to complete his three-year tenure.
In a similar vein, Onanuga said the President has directed the recall of Adewuyi who was appointed by by Tinubu as ED News Tinubu in 2024.
He will also complete his three-year tenure, which ends in 2027.
Onanuga further clarified in the statement that, “The new directive effectively reversed the previously announced appointments of a director-general, executive director of news, executive director of marketing, and managing director of NTA Enterprises.
