Ogun Governor Cautions Youths Against October 1st Protest, Calls for Patience

As the October 1st date set for Nigeria's 64th Independence Anniversary approaches, the Executive Governor of Ogun State has cautioned youths in the state against yielding themselves as tools in the hands of enemies of the state to cause mayhem, noting that with patience and concerted efforts, the future of the country is bright.

Ogun Governor Cautions Youths Against October 1st Protest, Calls for Patience

The Governor of Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has advised Nigerian youths against engaging in protests or acts of violence on Nigeria's Independence Day, noting that the future of the country remains bright with collective efforts.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA OTN News reports that Abiodun made this appeal in Abeokuta, the state capital, on Sunday after a special interdenominational church service marking Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day celebration.

The Governor of the Gateway state appealed to youths not to allow themselves to be manipulated by “agents of destabilization” seeking to incite unrest and disrupt the peace.

OTN News further reports that the Independence Anniversary service which held at the Cathedral of St. Peter’s, Ake, was attended by various dignitaries and members of the public.

During his address, the governor admitted the country Nigeria is faced by myriads of socioeconomic challenges but he expressed utmost optimism about the promises of a prosperous country given collective responsibility to fix the problems. 

He therefore encouraged Nigerians to remain patient as the government continues to implement policies aimed at addressing these issues.

Abiodun who on the one hand expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, warned that there are disgruntled elements who would like to see the country go up in flames, hence, he emphasized that the nation is on the path to achieving equal opportunities, growth, and development.

“We must remain steadfast and avoid being used by those who wish to create disorder,” Abiodun said. He further added, “I am confident that with continued efforts, we will build a better Nigeria for everyone.”

In his conclusion, Governor Abiodun made a clarion call for unity and cooperation among citizens as the country navigates its current challenges, urging all Nigerians to look forward with hope and determination.
