Nigeria's President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has met and shook hands with the newly installed Bishop of Rome and the new leader of the Roman Catholic Church, His Holiness Pope Leo XIV, on Sunday.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA OTN News reports as gathered from established international media sources that the America-born pontiff who took time to shake hands with several world leaders in St Peter’s Square after the inauguration mass on Sunday, had a brief session of exchange of pleasantries with the Nigerian President.

In a viral video, Tinubu was found shaking hands with the Pope, and also had a brief conversation with the Pope before leaving the scene.

OTN News further reports that a retinue o world leaders who flew to Rome to attend the Inauguration Mass, and thereafter took time to shake hands with the Pope include: US Vice President J.D Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, among others.

At the installation mass, Pope Leo XIV gave the world a leap into the focus and philosophy of his papacy by calling for a stop to the exploitation of nature and marginalisation of the poor, much like his predecessor Pope Francis.

The new Pope gave a homily calling for the Church to be a transformational force in a world of division and hatred.
