President Bola Tinubu Has Appointed New Leaders For Nigeria's Top Intelligence Agencies

Following the resignation of the Director General, National Intelligence Agency (NIA) Ahmad Rufai Abubakar last weekend, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of new leaders for the country's top Intelligence Agency and the Department of State Services (DSS).
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA OTN News recalls that the former Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmad Rufai Abubakar, submitted his resignation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu during a meeting at the State House on Saturday evening, citing personal and family related issues as reasons for his resignation.
Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed, has been named the new head of the NIA, while Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, takes over as Director General of the DSS.
Ambassador Mohammed, a seasoned diplomat, joined the NIA in 1995 and rose to prominence within the organization.
He previously served as Nigeria's mission chief to Libya, bringing years of international experience to his new role.
Mohammed graduated from Bayero University, Kano, in 1990 and has held positions in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House in Abuja.
Mr. Adeola Ajayi, now the head of the DSS, worked his way up to the position of Assistant Director-General before his promotion.
His career includes leadership roles as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.
These appointments come after the resignation of the former NIA and DSS chiefs. President Tinubu has tasked the new directors to strengthen the two agencies, urging them to leverage their experience in addressing the nation's security issues.
He emphasized the need for collaboration with other security bodies and alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
The President also expressed gratitude to the outgoing directors for their service and wished them success in their future endeavors.
