The Rivers State Police Command's Tactical Teams and Anti-Kidnapping Unit have launched a manhunt for the abductors of a Director with the Rivers State Board of Internal Revenue Service, Aribibia John Fubara, who was kidnapped in Port Harcourt.

OPEN TELEVISION Naija (OTN) News gathered that six armed men who arrived by speedboat on Saturday, August 24, 2024, around 8:20pm at the Okrika Waterfront near the Marine Base area of Port Harcourt, had fired shots into the air before singling out their target and forcefully taking him aboard their boat, fleeing to an unknown location.

The victim, identified as Aribibia John Fubara, who is also a Knight of Saint Christopher in the Anglican Communion, has not been located at the time of this report.

The kidnappers have not yet made contact with the family, but the victim’s brother, Emmanuel Fubara, confirmed the abduction and stated that the incident has been officially reported to the police.

When reached for comment, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident and stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has ordered the tactical units to ensure Fubara's safe release. 

A manhunt is underway to apprehend the kidnappers and bring them to justice.
