Sunshine, Haziness to Dominate Nigeria’s Weather for Three Days — NiMet

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has forecasted a three-day period of sunshine and haziness across various parts of the country from Sunday through Tuesday.
OTN News furthers reports as gathered that in its weather outlook released on Saturday in Abuja, the agency projected sunny skies in a hazy atmosphere over parts of Katsina, Yobe, Kano, and Jigawa States in the northern region on Sunday, while other parts of the North are expected to remain sunny during the morning hours.
NiMet further indicated that isolated thunderstorms could occur later in the afternoon or evening hours over parts of southern Taraba.
For the central region, the agency predicted sunny skies with patches of clouds in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms and moderate rains expected later in the day over parts of Benue and Kogi States.
According to the forecast, the southern region will experience a cloudy atmosphere with prospects of morning thunderstorms and light rains over parts of Ebonyi, Ogun, Ondo, Imo, Abia, Lagos, Rivers, Bayelsa, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom.
Thunderstorms accompanied by moderate rains are expected over most parts of the region later in the day.
On Monday, NiMet projected sunny skies over the northern region in the morning, with isolated thunderstorms expected over parts of southern Kaduna and southern Taraba later in the day.
In the central region, sunny skies with patches of clouds are expected in the morning, giving way to isolated thunderstorms with moderate rains over parts of southern Benue, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), and Nasarawa in the afternoon and evening hours.
For the South, a cloudy atmosphere is anticipated in the morning with chances of light rains over Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom, while thunderstorms with moderate rains are expected later over parts of Enugu, Ogun, Oyo, Abia, Imo, Rivers, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River.
NiMet also forecasted sunny skies across the North and central regions on Tuesday, with patches of clouds over the Middle Belt.
The southern region is expected to experience cloudy weather with prospects of morning thunderstorms and light rains over parts of Ogun, Lagos, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom, while moderate rains are expected later over Ogun, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, Cross River, and Lagos States.
The agency advised the public to exercise caution during rainfall periods and urged farmers to avoid applying fertilisers or pesticides before the rains to prevent nutrient leaching.
“Ensure that loose objects are fastened to avoid collision. Disconnect electrical appliances from sockets and stay away from tall trees to avoid impact from falling branches and broken trees,” NiMet cautioned.
