23-Year-Old Robbery Suspect Confesses To Stealing Police Phone While In Custody, Hides Phone in Cell For Two Weeks
"Erekere" is a comic character known in Nigeria's entertainment Industry for possessing incredible capacity for stealing people's belongings but a 23-year old robbery suspect has beaten the acting records of Erekere as he confessed to stealing a cell phone of a police officer while in custody, hiding it in the cell for two weeks.

In an incredible twist to the reality of kleptomanic competence and courage, a 23-year-old armed robbery suspect, Godwin Emmanuel, has admitted to stealing a police officer's phone from a patrol van while being transported to the Osun State Police Command headquarters in Osogbo.
According to the State Police Spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola and his gang of three was part of a gang that has been targeting motorists and passengers for robbery attacks.
OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News gathered that Emmanuel was arrested alongside two accomplices, Olajide Kareem, 28, and Emmanuel Mike, 33, for allegedly robbing travelers on the Ilesa-Osu Expressway.
In one incident, a bus driver was shot and taken to the Seventh-day Adventist Hospital in Ile-Ife for treatment.
Speaking about his actions, Emmanuel explained, "I was arrested for armed robbery, but on the way to the police station, I found and took a phone inside the patrol van. I didn’t realize it belonged to a police officer. I only wanted to call my family to let them know what happened."
He added that he had hidden the phone in the cell for two months before it was discovered during a search. Emmanuel pleaded for forgiveness, saying, "I won’t do it again. Please tell them to forgive me."
The police confirmed the suspects were part of a five-man gang operating in Osun State, with ties to Ikorodu, Lagos State. Investigations are ongoing.
