Students of Bn-Saaliheen Arabic and Islamic Academy Abeokuta have embarked on an educational excursion to Lekki Central Mosque, Lagos, with the aim of deepening their understanding of Islamic practices, promoting spiritual development, and encouraging a culture of learning beyond the classroom

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that the visit, which took place earlier this week, was guided by Alfa Abdul Salaam, the administrative leader of Lekki Central Mosque, who warmly received the students and their teachers.

The Lekki Central Mosque, located at No. 81a Hakeem Dickson Street, Lekki Scheme 1, Lagos, is a leading multi-purpose Islamic centre in Nigeria.

During the tour, the students were introduced to key facilities and practices within the mosque, including:

 • The elderly ablution area, used for ritual purification before prayers.

 • The shrouding bay, where the Islamic ritual bath for the deceased is performed.

 • The Qur’an Memorization College, where students undergo Tahfiz and engage in Islamic learning activities.

 • The mosque’s library, which operates between 8 am to 5 pm daily, offering a wide range of Islamic books and 24/7 free internet access.

 • The Nikkah service programs, which the mosque provides free of charge, alongside a hall for large ceremonies and events.

 • The water treatment plant - responsible for generating and purifying water for mosque use.

The guided tour concluded in the main prayer hall, where participants were received by the Chief Imam of Lekki Central Mosque, Dr. Imam Ridwan Jamiu, who delivered a lecture on the importance of living as a good Muslim, the benefits of Qur’an memorization, and the value of education in earning respect in society.

In his words, “Knowledge is a trust in Islam, and visits like this strengthen both faith and intellect."

Speaking on behalf of Bn-Saaliheen Academy, Ustaz Abdulgafar Adeboye, the organizer of the trip, expressed gratitude for the warm reception.

According to him, “This experience was highly beneficial for our students. It broadened their horizons, reinforced their Islamic values, and inspired them to seek both religious and academic excellence."

The religious tourists and practical Islamic learners seized the opportunity of their return journey to make a brief stop over at Markaz, Agege, where they observed their prayers and received special supplications from notable Imams for journey mercies.

Partcipants in the religious excursion have affirmed that the experience served both educational and spiritual purposes as it uplifted them, fostering innovation and a deeper understanding of Islamic culture and practices.

Meanwhile, the coordinator of Bn-Saaliheen Academy, Ustaz Adeboye has revealed that the academy has

plans to organize more of such educational visits to help students gain practical exposure to Islamic institutions and strengthen their moral and intellectual development.
