The National Head, Celebrity Special Marshals Unit of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Julie Chi-Nwaoha has appealed to all state chapters of the Celebrity Special Marshals of the FRSC to help use their social influences to change the attitude of Nigerians who focus on filming accident scenes without doing anything to save lives of accident victims.
Julie Chi-Nwaoha made this appeal during her visit to the Ogun State branch of the CSM FRSC last weekend.
The National Head who took advantage of the occasion of attending the book launch of the Ogun state Coordinator of the Special Marshals, Hon Kehinde Soaga also paid a courtesy visit to the Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ogun State, Corps Commander Akinwunmi Fashakin in his Ibara Sector Command office with her team.
Julie Chi-Nwaoha expressed deep concerns over the bad attitudes of Nigerians, mostly the tech savvy youths, who have formed the habit of focusing on filming scenes of road accidents without doing anything about saving the precious lives of victims of such crashes.
She therefore pleaded with CSM FRSC members in Ogun state to help the FRSC embark on strategic campaigns to advocate attitudinal changes among road users across the country, on what to do at accidents scenes.
She further appealed to Nigerians to prioritize saving lives at road accidents scenes over shooting videos of victims all in the name of getting likes and views on their social media handles.
During her courtesy visit to the Sector Commander, the FRSC CSM National Head, re-assured Corps Commander Akinwunmi that Celebrity Special Marshals in Nigeria will incorporate and intensify efforts geared at effecting positive attitudinal changes in Nigerian road users on first responding skills using music, films and relevant media platforms to enlighten people to do the right thing, which is prioritizing saving lives over generating content for social media posts.
According to her, "As CSM members we will use our public goodwill, followings and unique creative influence to package and execute road safety campaigns, focused on this area of road safety advocacy more."
