The Nigerian Army has achieved significant success in its ongoing counter-terrorism efforts, rescuing kidnapped victims and apprehending key Boko Haram operatives, including top commanders and logistics suppliers.

OPEN TELEVISION Naija (OTN) News gathered this in a post on X.com from the Nigeria Army(NA) which revealed that soldiers successfully rescued a kidnapped Ex-Local Government chairman and apprehended a notorious kidnapper in Egbe Community, Yagba Local Government Area, Kogi State.

In another operation, soldiers in Ebonyi State thwarted a kidnapping attempt in Ezza-Umuhuali Village, Ishielu Local Government Area, arresting a suspect with an ATM card, 48 international passports, and other items.

Through a series of targeted operations, the Army has dealt a major blow to the insurgent group, disrupting their leadership and supply chains while bringing hope to families of those held captive.

The report detailed that part of a seven-member kidnapping syndicate, Mohammed Bello, had been on the radar of security agencies. The same troops also responded to a distress call about the kidnapping of the former Chairman of Kabba Local Government Area, engaging the criminals in Egbe Forest, capturing one and rescuing the victim, who is now safely back with his family.

In Yobe State, three Boko Haram collaborators, admitting to involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery, were captured at Gubio Market in Gubio Local Government Area. Additionally, troops in Jigawa State apprehended nine individuals for looting a shop in Kazaure town, recovering 255 bags of fertilizer, three bags of rice, a solar panel, and five motorcycles.

Furthermore, the army announced the capture of two key Boko Haram commanders in Borno State, responsible for numerous attacks on military bases.

On August 4, 2024, based on reliable intelligence, troops detained these commanders as they attempted to infiltrate the Damasak IDP camp in Mobbar Local Government Area.

OTN News reports that Bana Yamode and Babagana Usman, claiming they were visiting family at the camp, were detained after previously leading assaults on local troops. In the same operation, soldiers also arrested two suspected Boko Haram logistics suppliers, Mustapha Ismaila (49) and Abdulmudalabi Haruna (30), and rescued two children.

Meanwhile, 50 Boko Haram militants and their families surrendered to soldiers in Bama, Gwoza, and Dikwa Local Government Areas due to intensified military actions.
