Secret PDP Faction Meeting Minutes Endorses Wike For 2027 Presidential Bid, Declares Him Party Saviour

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in southern Nigeria has reportedly endorsed the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, as its preferred presidential candidate for the 2027 elections, praising him for “saving the party from imminent death” through his financial and political influence.

According to minutes of a secret meeting obtained and reported by SaharaReporters, which OTN News sighted, the group operating under the banner of the Wike-for-President 2027 (WFP2027) committee convened an emergency session on August 21, 2025, to discuss internal party tensions and consolidate support for Wike’s presidential ambition.

The meeting, which insiders described as the gathering of the “authentic leadership” of the PDP in the South, took place just hours after a rival assembly of southern PDP leaders in Lagos, which the committee denounced as “illegal” and “self-serving.”

Attendees at the WFP2027 session included several prominent figures such as Hon. Chidiebere Egwu Goodluck, Hon. Austin Nwachukwu, Senator George Sekibo, Senator Mao Ohuabunwa, Senator Mike Ama Nnachi, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Akpan, and Hon. O.K. Chinda, among others.

The meeting’s chairman, whose name was not disclosed in the leaked minutes, criticized the Lagos faction, arguing that its resolutions held no legitimacy.

He accused some party executives of “ungratefulness” toward Wike, claiming the PDP would have been extinct without his personal and financial support.

“It is laughable that such an illegal contraption can call a meeting without consulting the genuine leadership of the PDP in the South,” the chairman was quoted as saying.

“Our leader held up PDP and saved it from imminent death by funding all its activities. But for our leader, PDP would have been extinct by now.”

The minutes also alleged that Wike provided financial assistance to several party members, including paying their personal upkeep and children’s school fees.

The chairman reportedly warned that the committee might pursue legal action against any individuals showing “continued ingratitude.”

Committee members further commended Wike’s ongoing media engagements and development efforts in the Federal Capital Territory, describing him as a “man of action” and “Mr. Project.”

They argued that his achievements in Abuja have made him the most visible and admired politician in Nigeria and the standout performer in President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

“The FCT has never had a minister as good as our leader,” one member was quoted as saying. “Our leader has transformed Abuja and shown the kind of functional, committed leadership Nigeria needs in 2027.”

The meeting concluded with a unanimous resolution for the group to sustain public support for Wike and intensify mobilization efforts for his anticipated presidential run.

The minutes stated: “The committee recommends that the leader continue his media engagements to inform Nigerians of developments in Abuja. His work in the FCT is viewed nationwide as the only thing the Tinubu administration is doing right.”
