OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that, the United States has posthumously inducted Nigeria’s former Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, into the prestigious US Army War College International Hall of Fame, marking a significant recognition of his service and legacy.

OTN News further reports as gathered that, the honour was announced on Tuesday by the US Mission in Nigeria, which described the induction as a tribute to Lagbaja’s “visionary service” and a reinforcement of the strong security partnership between the United States and Nigeria.

Lagbaja, who served as Nigeria’s 23rd Chief of Army Staff, was celebrated at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) annual convention in Washington, D.C., where military leaders and global defence partners gathered to acknowledge his contributions to international peace and military professionalism.

According to the US Mission, the recognition not only reflects Lagbaja’s exceptional leadership but also underscores the ongoing cooperation between both nations in promoting regional and global security.

The Mission also extended congratulations to the Nigerian Army, describing the honour as well-deserved.

Lagbaja, a native of Osun State, passed away last year at the age of 56 after a period of illness. His induction into the International Hall of Fame places him among a select group of distinguished military officers whose careers have significantly shaped their countries’ defence landscapes.
