OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News has congratulated a distinguished member of the multimedia news platform, Prof. Babafemi Adesina Badejo on the occasion of the conferment of the Djibouti National Order of 27 June 1977 upon him, noting that the honour is well derserved by the outstanding Diplomat.

A congratulatory message by the publisher and Chief Operations Officer, OTN News, Ambassador Olufemi Orunsola in a letter addressed to the honouree states that the conferment of the National honour on the erudite academics, and Nigerian Diplomat is a well deserved honour.

"On behalf of the Advisory Board, OTN News, I heartily congratulate Your Excellency, on this well deserved recognition coming from outside the shores of Nigeria," the letter reads.

"OTN News is convinced that this recognition will encourage you to continue to deploy your extensive wealth of experience as a political scholar and diplomat for Nigeria and humanity at large," Ambassador Orunsola wrote.

He further prays that Prof. Badejo continues to wax stronger in his area of core competence and sohere of influence, which is internal relations and diplomacy.

OTN News recalls that on November 2nd, 2025, Prof. Babafemi Adesina Badejo, who is the Lead Consultant at Yintab Strategy Consults was decorated by the Prime Minister of Djibouti, Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed on behalf of President Ismail Omar Guelleh, in recognition of the support he gave towards peace in Somalia, especially at the long drawn Arta Peace Conference, which 25 years ago, provided the foundation on which current Somali governance structures are resting. 

Also bestowed with the same Order of 27 June 1977, was H. E. Mohamed Abdi Affey, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kenya, twenty-five years ago, who joined at Arta as President Daniel Arap Moi's Special Envoy.

Prof. Babafemi Badejo retired from the United Nations in 2017 but remains dedicated to peace in Somalia, resulting in his seminal publication, Somalia Just Before Al-Shabaab: Why Peace Was Elusive. The book remains a major insider analytical chronicling of the Somali peace challenges over several years, and several amelioration efforts, including the foundational Arta Peace Conference.
