INEC Declares APGA Candidate Soludo Winner of Anambra Gubernatorial Election

The candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo, has been declared the winner of the Anambra State governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC).

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the announcement was made on Sunday by the Returning Officer, Edoma Omoregie at the INEC collation centre in Awka, the state capital.

Soludo, who is the incumbent governor, defeated 15 other candidates after securing overwhelming votes across the 21 local government areas in the state.

OTN News further reports that Soludo won huge votes in virtually all LGAs, maintaining a wide margin ahead of his closest rival, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Nicholas Ukachukwu.

The election, held in 5,720 polling units, saw APGA consolidate its dominance as Soludo swept major strongholds and outpaced other contenders in both rural and urban centres.

By this development, Prof Charles has successfully secured a second term in office as the Governor of Anambra state.

Ukachukwu emerged as Soludo’s nearest challenger, finishing second after polling significant votes but falling short of the numbers required to unseat the incumbent.

While Soludo had 422,664 votes in total, Ukachukwu of APC gathered 99,445 votes.
