The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ogun State Charpter, will be conducting a training session for 100 Mass Communication Students of Chrisland University, Abeokuta on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
A statement released by the Chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Ogun state chapter, Mr. Michael Ogunsiyi on Sunday obtained by OPEN TELEVISION Naija, has it that the workshop on Advanced Specialized Sports Writing is part of the activities planned to celebrate World Sports Journalists’ Day 2024.
According to him, the training with the theme: “The Integral Role of Sports Journalism in the Media Landscape,” will be declared opened by the Honourable Commissioner for Sports in Ogun state, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka while the Vice Chancellor of Chrislamd University Abeokuta, Prof. Babalola will deliver the opening remarks at the one-day training scheduled to hold at Chrisland University's broadcast studio from 12 noon prompt on Tuesday July 2nd, 2024.
OPEN TELEVISION Naija reports that the World Sports Journalists’ Day is an annual event that highlights the vital role that sports journalism plays in uniting people across different cultures, religions, tribes, and social classes.
The statement further reveals that a former Vice President of SWAN and a seasoned journalist, Deacon Kunle Oluwusì, will instruct the students on the fundamentals of sports writing while the Assistant Manager, News at Ogun State Television (OGTV), Biodun Alabi, will also deliver a presentation on sportscasting, focusing on its significance within broadcast journalism.
