Baba Fokoko Counters Lalude, Says MC Oluomo Never Promised Money for Tinubu Campaign

By: Israel Adeleke

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that Veteran Nollywood actor, Babatunde Bamgbode, popularly known as Baba Fokoko, has refuted claims by his colleague, Fatai “Lalude” Adetayo, that the President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu “MC Oluomo” Akinsanya, failed to fulfil financial promises made to actors who campaigned for President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general election.

OTN News further reports that Baba Fokoko in a viral video interview aired on Oyinmomo TV earlier this week, dismissed Lalude’s accusations, insisting that MC Oluomo never promised to pay anyone a specific amount of money for their participation in the campaign.

He described the transport union leader as a generous man who supported and rewarded everyone who worked with him during the electioneering period.

According to Baba Fokoko, MC Oluomo provided food, daily stipends, and a significant sum of money to the group at the conclusion of the campaign, contrary to Lalude’s claims of neglect and betrayal.

“Till we finished, he brought food for us to share, and the remainder was given to us, and we went home. He didn’t tell me or others that we would get anything specific, but he had it in mind to do us well. After we left, he called us for a meeting and gave us something — a huge amount of money. Each of us smiled home. No one can deny that," Baba Fokoko said.

Baba Fokoko added that MC Oluomo was transparent in his dealings with the campaign team and ensured everyone received their due.

“He never promised anyone a specific payment. If he did, maybe that was personal, but he didn’t make any such promise to me,” he said.

He further explained that MC Oluomo corrected issues that arose during the distribution of campaign funds to prevent misunderstandings among the participants.

“Later, they wanted to spoil the system of giving money, so he stepped in himself and made an amendment. When he saw it was about to bring issues, he stepped in and resolved it,” he said.

The veteran actor also described MC Oluomo as a kind-hearted individual who values people, especially elders and actors.

He recalled how the NURTW boss supported him personally and even sponsored his pilgrimage to Mecca in 2008.

“MC Oluomo is my helper and wants me to live in Lagos because he loves elderly people who are intelligent,” Baba Fokoko said.

“He loves actors and always checks up on me. He has never wanted people around him to suffer, even before he became famous. He has always been a giver,” he added.

His comments come months after Lalude publicly accused MC Oluomo of failing to pay the promised ₦1.5 million to actors who campaigned for President Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for over a month and three weeks. Other actors, including Ronke Oshodi-Oke and Ganiu “Alapini” Nafiu, had also expressed regret over their involvement in the campaign.

However, Baba Fokoko maintained that the allegations were unfounded, stressing that MC Oluomo fulfilled his obligations and treated everyone fairly during and after the campaign.

“God is my witness,” he said. “MC Oluomo didn’t promise us money; he only showed us kindness, and he did that abundantly.”
