NYSC DG Urges Corps Members to Embrace Postings, Serve with Patriotism

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, has called on Corps Members across the country to accept their postings in good faith and approach their national service with diligence, patriotism, and commitment to national development.

OTN News further reports that, the statement which was disclosed in a statement by the Acting Director Information and Public Relations of the NYSC, Caroline Embu, said that the Brigadier General Nafiu gave the advice while interacting with the 2025 Batch ‘A’ Stream 2 Corps Members at the NYSC Lagos State Orientation Camp, Iyana-Ipaja.

He advised them to also respect and learn the culture and traditions of their host communities, adding that every part of Nigeria is blessed with diverse cultural values.

General Nafiu, who warned the Corps Members against misconduct, emphasised that violators of NYSC bylaws and the constitution of the country would not be spared.

“As you have obeyed the clarion call, I urge you as Nigerian youths to believe in this country and lift this nation high. We expect you to be patriotic citizens because Nigeria belongs to all of us,” he charged.

He cautioned Corps Members against unauthorized and night travel, reiterating the NYSC’s safety guidelines.

In her briefing to the Director General, NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Christianah Salmwang, reported that, the Corps Members had been fully integrated into various camp committees and were actively engaged in all camp activities.

She disclosed that a total of 3,212 Corps Members, 1,250 males and 1,960 females, were registered at the Lagos Orientation Camp. Additionally, due to overpopulation, 465 males and 651 females were dislodged to the Kwara Camp; 502 males and 723 females to Ekiti; 291 males and 400 females to Ondo; and 722 males and 921 females to the Osun Camp, making a combined total of 7,887 Corps Members deployed to Lagos State.

OTN News, however, observes that the NYSC DG’s visit underscores the scheme’s ongoing emphasis on discipline, national integration, and the selfless contribution of Nigerian graduates to the nation’s development.
