Authorities of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has refuted a recent news that surfaced on social media, informing Corps Members that their bank accounts are being upgraded to accommodate payment of the new N70,000 minimum wage to them.
The Directorate of the agency clarified that after the minimum wage for the country was announced as N70,000 by the Presidency, no specific directive has been issued by any relevant authority to initiate such payments or upgrade accounts.
A statement released by the Directorate over the last weekend by Director, Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, described the circulating report as both misleading and purely false.
Megwa explained that the organization has not received any instruction from the government regarding the implementation of a N70,000 minimum wage for corps members, advising corps members to be wary of playing into the hands of opportunistic fraudsters all in the name of upgrading their accounts.
