The Former Presidential Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 general election, Omoyele Sowore, has vowed to proceed with the planned #EndBadGovernance protests in Abuja on August 1, despite the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike's declaration that the city is unavailable for demonstrations.

OPEN TELEVISION Naija reports that Sowore callenged the Minister, Wike, On Friday regarding his announcement that Abuja will not be available for protests on August 1.

Sowore took to social media to assert that the proposed nationwide protests would indeed begin in Abuja. He stated, “It is starting from and in Abuja!”

Recalling on Wike announcement on Thursday, he said that August 1 was reserved for the chairmen of the six Area Councils of the FCT to present certificates of recognition to traditional rulers, effectively banning protests on that day.

He made this declaration after the FCT Security Council meeting in Abuja, where he later briefed journalists on the outcome.

The planned nationwide protests, set for August 1 to 10, 2024, aim to address the pressing issues in the country like hunger and rising inflation, with organizers remaining anonymous.
