A Nigerian Air Force officer, David Sangokoya, has been honored with the prestigious 2023 International Sword of Honour at the Royal Air Force College Cranwell in the United Kingdom.
The announcement was made in a statement posted by the Nigerian Air Force on Facebook.
As gathered by OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News on Friday, the statement, titled “NAF Officer Awarded 2023 International Sword of Honour At RAF College Cranwell UK,” detailed Sangokoya's participation in the Modularised Initial Officers’ Training Course 22 from March to September 2023.
He emerged as the top international cadet among the participants.
The Royal Air Force College graduates several classes annually, with the International Sword of Honour being awarded to the most exceptional international cadet of the year.
OTN News further reports that on Thursday, September 12, 2024, the Prince of Wales, William, presented the award to Sangokoya on behalf of King Charles III during a royal graduation ceremony.
The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, praised Sangokoya for his dedication and hard work, calling the award a reflection of his focus and commitment.
He also acknowledged the role of Sangokoya’s family in his success, expressing pride in how this accomplishment reflects positively on the Nigerian Air Force and the nation.
