Netizens Fume, Demand Release of VDM Reportedly Arrested After GT Bank Complaint Visit

Many netizens have taken to the social media to express their utmost displeasure about the alleged arrest of Nigerian influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM) by the Police shortlt after his exit from the GTBank Premises in Abuja.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports as gathered that VDM was reportedly arrested at the bank when he went to lodge complaints about alleged unauthorized debits from his Mum's Account.

According to the lawyer of the popular influencer, Barrister Deji Adeyanju, the arrest occurred at the GTBank branch in Area 3, following VDM's public allegations against the bank over unauthorized transactions on his mother's account.

Adeyanju confirmed the incident via Twitter on Friday, describing the arrest as unacceptable, as the human rights lawyer posted, "Demanding accountability is not a crime."

In a follow-up tweet, he added that VDM was taken into custody alongside a friend named C Park, while his mother was left behind.

Following the reported arrest of VDM, the social media space in Nigeria has been at a boiling point as many netizens have swung into different modes and manners of reactions, with many dropping videos in which they condemn the arrest of VDM, demanding to know his whereabouts, calling for his immediate release.

Meanwhile, many netizens have focused their fury on the bank where VDM was allegedly arrested, with many posting pictures of their GT Bank account balance after reportedly transferring or withdrawing their hard-earned money from the bank.
