Justice for Bamise As Court Sentences Killer Lagos BRT Driver,Nice to Death by Hanging

Some three years after killing an innocent passenger, Bamise, a Lagos State High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square has sentenced a driver, Andrew Nice Ominikoron, to death by hanging.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News reports that Ominikoron, a driver of the Lagos Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), was sentenced to death for killing Bamise Ayanwola, a 22-year-old fashion designer who had boarded a BRT Bus back then in 2022.

Sherifat Sonaike, the trial judge, gave the verdict on Friday.

Ominikoron and others now at large were accused of conspiring, raping and killed Bamise.

OTN News recalls that in February 2022, Bamise entered a BRT bus driven by the culprit, sent a scare note to her friends when she suspected something omnious about the BRT bus she boarded but she ultimately got killed before reaching her destination.

Subsequently, security operatives later found her naked body by the road side.

The driver of the BRT she boarded was eventually arrested and charged to court for murder.

Although the driver, Ominikoron, pleaded not guilty to the charges, he has now been convicted and sentenced to death by hanging with many expressing confidence in the Nigerian judiciary for serving justice to the late Bamise and her family.
