MAPOLY Sets To Become Residential As Alumni Association Secures Hostel Building Approval

After over 15 years of initiating the construction of hostels for students at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta, the Management of the state-owned Polytechnic is collaborating with the Alumni Association of institution to make the campus residential as the Governing Council has given approval for the project.

As part of his resolve towards rebranding the Frontline state-owned tertiary institution, the Rector, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta. Arc. Dr. 'Koye Jolaoso has visited the abandoned MAPOLY hostel site in the company of the President of MAPOLY Alumni Association, Pastor Ezekiel Obasanya and some executive members of the association, with a view to making the 45-year old institution residential.

OPEN TELEVISION NAIJA (OTN) News gathered that the move targeted at ensuring completion of the hostel project which was initiated in 2009 under the Otunba Gbenga Daniel Administration, was announced by the Head, Public Relations and Protocols of the Polytechnic, Mr.Yemi Ajibola. 

According to Ajibola, "This effort of the Management is in tandem with a motive to encourage development through Public-Private- Partnership (PPP), Built Operate and Transfer (BoT) or direct investment in the Polytechnic."

He further revealed that "To intensify the process, the Governing Council of the Polytechnic, led by Emeritus Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun, gave an express approval the Management for smooth implementation and timely completion."

The spokesperson of the Polytechnic also revealed that "the Secretary of the Committee of Distinguished Alumni(CODA) Chief Babatunde Odeyemi; the Public Relations Officer, Engr. Orelaja and the Alumni Relations Officer, Mr Saheed were all present at the hostel site with the new Rector of the Polytechnic for on the spot assessment of the hostel which was initiated some 15 years ago.
